I buy and store old parts that are no longer available for future motorcycle restorations on bikes in my collection. To keep the parts from further deterioration before use, I remove the rust before putting them away for future use.
You can remove the rust with Rust Blast without removing any of the chrome that would happen with a destructive rust removal method like media
blasting.
It only takes a little Rust Blast to clean a rusty rim. I add a few ounces of Rust Blast to a flexible disposable aluminum pan and shape it to fit the part. Spin the rim around in the Rust Blast for an hour and you have a rust free rim.
Every year the day after Thanksgiving, I go to the local chain grocery store and buy a shopping cart load of 75% off disposable aluminum pans of all sizes to clean parts.
