Q: Is RustBlast safe if it is gets on wiring, rubber, etc. during the process of using it on a car chassis?

Asked by:  - 1/2/2014

A: Yes, as long as the contact is casual and the RustBlast is rinsed off with water, RustBlast should not affect your wiring and rubber components.

Q: If I have new steel, do I have to let the RustBlast stay wet on the surface for the minimum of 30 minutes or can I do less time?

Asked by:  - 12/4/2014

A: New steel is usually very smooth, so we highly recommend leaving the surface wet with RustBlast for a minimum of 30 minutes so that you have an ideal surface profile when you go to apply the RustSeal. Also, remember to keep the surface temperature as warm as possible (within our temperature guidelines) because the warmer the RustBlast is, the more effective the RustBlast is.

Q: Can you use RustBlast on aluminum?

Asked by:  - 4/27/2015

A: RustBlast works very well on aluminum to etch the aluminum allowing excellent adhesion of paint.

Rating Works as described.
Great product, it gets rid of rust the easy way if you have small parts, just soak them a while and they look almost new. If you have larger areas to cover, in my case a pickup frame, it can be tricky if it's your first time using this. I found it hard to keep the areas from drying before it was time to rinse, seemed like I was using the RustBlast up real fast, glad I ordered a gallon. So after it all being done I had spots with a lot of zink phosphate buildup (brushed it gently with a paint brush and it seems to be fine, RustSeal went on ok). But like with every product you use the first time, it requires practice to get a feel for it, no matter how many times you read the instructions. I would recommend a respirator while using RustBlast, first of all it's probably not good to inhale the mist while spraying it and 2nd it kind of has a sulfer/rotten eggs smell.

Rating I will buy this product again
Product was used on a Model A Ford that has been in southern AZ all its life. Mostly light rust in scratches but some serious rust in floor pans, etc. It works well on everything and I will buy it again. However, in AZ we have temps over 100 degrees with humidity in the 5-10% range--a more viscous product would help with evaporation.

Rating Works as intended
Works as intended if tank is 100% free of residues. Tank wash sold here should be used in conjunction with this product, but requires repeated washes.
