Works great

Fixed up the rear subframe on my 2012 Jeep Patriot. It was on Ohio car and needed the works. The KBS three-step kit worked like a charm and I have faith the treatment will last as long as the car.

Great Product

First off I wanna say I love this product! It makes my frame look insanely professional. I will say I only ended up using the RustSeal out of this product after cleaning the frame up and prepping. Applying was super easy. I will also say don’t apply a huge clump amount because it will have runs and it will dry like an look like an ice cycle lol. I did end up having yo order more product. One can wasn’t enough for single cab Dakota frame.

No signs of rust

I am using this product to restore a 1955 chevy truck. i have bought 3 kits now to slowly coat sections of the truck as I get ready. Do not buy more than you can use at the time. It will harden in the can after being exposed to air within a few weeks depending on the temperature. Otherwise It lays down pretty smooth as long as you follow the directions and use a decent quality brush. I originally used very expensive epoxy primer on a couple smaller parts and they rusted through after getting wet 1 or 2 times. The first parts I coated with rust seal sat out in the yard for over a month and got rained on often during that time. no rust has even slightly shown through. The product creates such a solid barrier that water cant get through to attempt the rusting process. I will slowly coat the entire original Truck body with this product since it works so well. Definitley recommend using this product.

KBS rust system

I used KBS to clean blast and rust proof my 1970 VW chassis. All three products work great if you follow the instructions I am happy with the result. KBS will be my new rust solution

Trailer

Completely refurbished my utility trailer with your frame coating kit. Was very rusty but looks great now. I originally used your products to fix rust on the bottom of my 2003 ford excursion 8 years ago and rust has not returned. I love your products and have recommended them to my friends.

Great system

I used the Frame Coater Kit to kill the rust in my rockers of my 2006 Sierra. I also used it on the body and cab mounts, suspension and spring mounts. Using a power washer with the KBS Klean then soaking the remaining areas with the rust treatment and used a cut-in spray gun with the Rust seal. After that I put the slip on ABS plastic covers I bought, New cab mounts and running boards. and the problem is gone. The KBS kit is the foundation for a job that will last forever.

Great Stuff

I've used the rust cleaner, sealer, prep and top coat with great results. The tough coating works great on components subjected to a harsh life. I sprayed it under the deck of our 54 inch rider and it has made it easy to clean the underside and it has stayed on all summer, with no sign of wear!

Great Product needs better container

Love the product made my 69 year old parts look new. Biggest issue is that the can does not seal well after use. Even when cleaned and using a piece of plastic to keep it closed. Recommend finding a plastic container to store what you don’t use. Would be a 5 if not for container.

Frame Is Sealed

Finally got the frame sealed. Used @kbscoatings Frame Coater kit. Similar to others, but $20 less and more color options. You'd be amazed exactly how many sq. ft. of surface area there is on a long bed.

frustrating

I used this kit for a rusty picnic table made of metal grating. I spent several days on the prep (KBS Klean and Rust Blast seem like good products), only to be frustrated when I started painting with Rust Seal. The brushes that came with the kit shed a lot of bristles, and picking bristles out of Rust Seal is a disaster. Rust Seal is like painting with super glue; it's very runny and gets tacky fast. And Rust Seal ruins everything it touches because, like super glue, it's sticky and permanent. I had to use new applicators for each coat and went through many pairs of gloves. Then due to Rust Seal being runny, it was darn near impossible to apply it where metal meets metal without getting a tiny bit of pooling in the joint. To my dismay, ANY pooling causes Rust Seal to bubble when it dries. I knew to expect this from reading the directions, but I'm surprised how easily this happens. Since I was painting metal grating on a metal frame, the whole project ended up looking like a bubbly, boogery mess. Rust Seal is fine for mostly flat surfaces, but it is not suitable for more difficult painting surfaces. I'm sure Rust Seal does what it promises: to seal out rust. But at the end of the day, for my silly little project, I regret not just getting some Rustoleum.

Great Product, Great Company

We recently purchased the KBS Coatings three-step system to refinish a rusty, crusty wrought iron railing in front of our house that extends from our sidewalk to the street. Fifteen years earlier, house painters had applied latex paint to this railing, which made it rust even more than it normally would have over the years. We sanded the railing very well before applying the products. The three-step system worked great, was easy to use, and the railing looks new again. We also must mention the exceptional customer service we received several times we called the company with questions. We highly recommend KBS Coatings and their products. Awesome stuff

I used the frame coater kit for the underside of a mower deck. You might say that's overkill and you might be right. I bought this thing for a song and while it was mechanically sound it had a lot of surface rust. I wanted to bring it back up to spec and not have to worry about it ever again, so given what I saved from buying a new one it didn't bother me to spend some time and money painting it. I'm the guy that takes care of my stuff and wants it to last so this was a good project. If you follow the directions the end results are fantastic. I scraped all the big stuff and then took a wire cup on an angle grinder and tried to get everything else that I could. Then Klean, which removed even more. Then a good soaking/scrubbing with RustBlast and then let it dry for a day. Then two coats of RustSeal in silver. The result is a glossy, hard finish that I expect to hold up for a long time. Interesting note: I brushed the RustSeal on with the deck upside down, and when I flipped it over some had run to the top and dried in a lightly pitted area. When I went to prep the top of the deck I took the same wire cup on an angle grinder and let me tell you, getting the excess RustSeal off is no small task, even on a non-prepped surface! This is tough stuff. Do your part, take your time, follow the directions and I think you'll be thrilled with the results.

Refurbishing My Scarif (Ripper)

I completely broke down my ripper, took a grinder with a wire brush and cleaned the whole unit. I ordered a kit with quarts of cleaner, acid etch, Rust Seal, and Max Top Coat with activator. I was very impressed with end results! The product is Awesome! I had the teeth or feet sandblasted and Powdercoated. This Ripper will out last me and my kids. No rust in its future. So next is my scrape blade.

Rust seal is the best stuff since sliced bread. I have hooked many friends on this product just try it you can't beat it! Tough, flexable and chemical resistant.

Q: I have a jeep frame that has been sandblasted. What product(s) do I need the finish? I would like a rock hard gloss finish that ofcourse will never rust again. Thanks! Steve

A: If you have a sandblasted frame, you will only need the RustSeal. 1 Quart of RustSeal should be enough to do a jeep frame. Because it is a jeep and the frame is probably exposed to sunlight, you would also want to top coat the RustSeal with BlackTop and 1 pint should be enough.

If the sandblasted frame gets dirty or they don't use fresh sand when blasting, you will also want to wipe down the sandblasted surface with KBS Klean. 1 Quart should be more than enough.

Q: I'm scraping a truck frame to get the big stuff off. Will your products hurt wires or wiring harness fuel lines mounting brackets, rubber?

A: As long as you follow the directions for correct application, none of the products in this kit will hurt your wires, wire harnesses, fuel lines, mounting brackets, etc.

Q: Do I need to put a topcoat on the rust seal or can it be the final coat?

A: RustSeal is not intended for use as a final finish as repeated or prolonged exposure to direct UV light will cause cosmetic alteration to its color and sheen. RustSeal’s guaranteed rust protective properties, however, will not degrade. In areas not exposed to direct UV light, like the underside of a car, RustSeal will seal as well as serve as a great looking final finish. To protect against unwanted cosmetic changes, topcoat RustSeal with any solid color paint system such as BlackTop, KBS Maxx or any of KBS Coatings Top Coat Paints. NOTE: A clear top coat paint cannot provide the needed UV protection. Choose the closest color associated RustSeal primer to compliment your topcoat and protect against potential visible surface chips.

We do also sell the All-In-One Chassis Kit which includes BlackTop which is a black UV stable solid color top coat designed specifically to go over RustSeal and other coatings.

Q: can red oxide be sprayed, do you have it in spray cans? if not what thinner should I used with with your pint sprayer? thanks

A: Yes, all colors of RustSeal can be sprayed.

Spray pressure of 35-45 psi (250-330kpa) for siphon/pot guns and 25-35psi (170-250kpa) for gravity/top container guns. Thinning is not generally required but if needed 5%-10% is normally adequate. Use KBS #1 Thinner only which is a slow evaporating solvent. Do not reduce RustSeal with lacquer thinner. Also remember to clean your spray gun immediately after using RustSeal.

A: Yes, the Frame Coater Kit is used on new truck frames all of the time. The KBS Klean works well on the painted surface and the RustBlast etches any bare metal surfaces. NOTE: If the painted surface is glossy, scuff with 300 grit before you clean with KBS Klean.

A: If you are in a pinch and can't get KBS #1 Thinner, you can also use Xylene. Xylene is compatible with RustSeal and works really well to thin or clean up RustSeal.
