Fusion Self-Etch Primer is an all-purpose self-etching-primer ideal for promoting adhesion between multiple surface coatings (including applications of topcoats or primers over cured RustSeal) in addition to priming bare metals such as steel, brass, aluminum, and most hard plastics.

PROTECTIVE GLOVES AND SAFETY GLASSES SHOULD BE WORN AT ALL TIMES WHEN USING THIS PRODUCT.

DIRECTIONS:

Recommended temp application range is 55-82ºF (13-28ºC).

Clean & dry all surfaces to be etched or primed. KBS Klean, a water-based cleaner/degreaser, is recommended if cleaning is required.

For bare metal surfaces, clean with KBS Klean before applying a single covering coat.

Fusion may be applied by brush, roller or sprayer.

Always apply thin, covering coats.

A single coat is generally all that is required but you apply additional coats as needed.

Thinning is not generally required, however, KBS #1 Thinner may be used if needed.

For brush, roller or sprayer applications, stir can very well before and during use.

For aerosol application, shake can until mixing ball moves freely for a minimum of one minute. Hold nozzle 10-14 inches (25-32cm) from surface to be coated.

A single light coat is generally all that is required but you can apply additional coats as needed. When needed, apply 2 to 3 light to medium coats allowing a 3 to 5 minute dry time between each coat. Apply using steady and even strokes. Product will be dry-to-the-touch in 15 minutes. Allow one hour dry time before sanding, priming or top-coating. No need to sand if coated over within 24 hours.

IMPORTANT: Clean spray head immediately after use by turning can upside down and spraying until no more paint appears. If clogging occurs, remove spray head and clean with a fine wire. Replace carefully, pointing can and spray head away from you.

Allow 1 hour for Fusion to dry before applying BlackTop, KBS MAXX , KBS Top Coater, KBS Top Coater Aerosol or another topcoat or primer.

Always coat over Fusion within 7 days. If you want to apply after 7 days, scuff the Fusion with 300 grit.

Spraying Fusion SEP
FOLLOW ALL CAUTION & WARNING NOTICES WHEN SPRAYING. ALWAYS WEAR AN AIR SUPPLIED RESPIRATOR: NIOSH/MSHA approved organic vapor particulate respirator. Spray pressure of 35-45 psi (250-330kpa) for siphon/pot guns and 25-35psi (170-250kpa) for gravity/top container guns. As a general rule of thumb, we recommend a 1.0-1.2 tip size. Thinning is not generally required but if needed 5%-10% is normally adequate. Use KBS #1 Thinner only. Do not reduce Fusion SEP with lacquer thinner. Also remember to clean your spray gun immediately after using Fusion SEP. You can find more information on Spraying Fusion SEP in our Spraying Guidelines.

Clean Up
Use KBS #1 Thinner or lacquer thinner for immediate clean up including your spray gun. IMPORTANT: Remember Fusion SEP must be cleaned up before it dries.
