ALWAYS WEAR PROTECTIVE GLOVES AND SAFETY GLASSES. ALWAYS WORK IN A WELL-VENTILATED AREA. Please heed all labeled warning and caution notices on all products.
Product Description:
KBS Bed Liner is a tough & flexible thick black protective coating designed to protect against corrosion & abrasion while withstanding impacts & improving traction.
KBS Bed Liner features excellent adhesion and extends the life of your vehicle providing a beautiful satin finish.
Theoretical Coverage:
A Gallon KBS Bed Liner should cover up to 250 sq. ft.
Application Note:
For the ultimate rust protection, do the KBS 3-Step Rust Prevention System to treat any bare metal areas with RustSeal before applying KBS Bed Liner.
Surface Prep:
FOR THE BEST END RESULTS, apply KBS Bed Liner to clean and dry surfaces. To ensure proper adhesion, scuff the surfaces of the truck bed using medium grit sandpaper or a scouring pad. Remove any excess dust by blowing out the truck bed with clean air. Use KBS Klean (5 parts Hot Water and 1 Part KBS Klean) to clean the surface and ensure excellent adhesion. Allow surface to dry thoroughly. The surface must be clean, bone dry, non-glossy, and free of rust or flaking paint for the best performance.
Application:
For best results, Apply KBS Bed Liner to prepared surfaces as described above. ALWAYS WEAR PROTECTIVE GLOVES and EYE WEAR when using KBS Bed Liner. Always use NIOSH/MSHA approved air supplied respirator.
Protect adjacent areas to be coated using painters tape and/or masking paper. Mix the product before use using a drill mixer if possible to ensure uniform mixing of the product.
Thinning is not recommended. The addition of thinner will increase the VOC content and possibly affect the performance characteristics of this coating.
Do not apply when the air temperature and the substrate temperatures are below 50°F or above 90°F (10°C & 32°C). Cut in seams, corners or hard to reach places before rolling or spraying the larger area using a 3-inch rough foam high quality roller. Apply the coating from the front of the bed moving towards the back of the bed. When spraying, mix a small amount first and test spray a piece of cardboard using a Shutz style spray gun or HVLP spray gun. Adjust air pressure to get desired texture (less pressure = more texture). Fill the hopper and spray the bed with the gun 18-24” away in long, sweeping motions. Be sure to vary the spray paths to avoid any “shadowing” patterns from forming. Wipe the tip of the spray gun periodically between passes to avoid build-up & dripping.
For maximum durability, apply 2-3 coats. Always apply a thin coat of material on the first pass and then a slightly heavier coat. The first light coat provides a great base for better adhesion so KBS Bed Liner does not run off a smooth surface or sag especially on vertical surfaces.
KBS Bed Liner looks great when rolled! When rolling, apply using a high quality solvent resistant textured foam roller.
KBS Bed Liner can be re-coated at anytime but it is best to wait for 8-10 hours before stepping on the surface for touching up needed areas. Allow 72 hours for full cure before placing objects on the surface.
Clean Up:
KBS # 1 Thinner, Xylene or Acetone are ideal for clean up. Always wear protective gloves to avoid skin contact and temporary staining.
